Scindapsus ‘Rubicon’

Not every rare plant announces itself with bright colour. Some are more considered than that.

The Scindapsus ‘Rubicon’ is a highly collectible tropical aroid native to the forests of Southeast Asia - a trailing and climbing vine that sets itself apart from more common cultivars by refusing to follow the rules. Forget bright silver or neon tones. The Rubicon shifts between deep forest green, dark charcoal, and subtle burgundy depending on the light, its thick, leathery leaves carrying a matte, velvety texture with a satin sheen that catches the light with quiet elegance. These plants come in densely packed pots with many stems.

Moody. Rare. Unmistakably itself.

Pot size: 12cm | Approx. height: 20cm

✦ Care Guide

  • Light: Bright indirect light brings out the depth of colour and the subtle satin sheen. Tolerates lower light but the tonal shifts will be less pronounced. Avoid direct sun.
  • Water: Water when the top 2–3cm of soil is dry. Drought-tolerant - err on the side of underwatering rather than over.
  • Humidity: Appreciates 50–60%+ humidity. A humidifier nearby will keep the thick, leathery leaves at their best.
  • Temperature: 18–27°C. Protect from cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C.
  • Soil: Well-draining potting mix with added perlite. Good aeration is key.
  • Feeding: Balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength every 2–4 weeks during spring and summer.
  • Repotting: Every 1–2 years. Provide a moss pole to encourage larger, more dramatic leaves as it matures.

Each Rubicon is individual - the interplay of green, charcoal, and burgundy tones varies with light and maturity. Grown with care and handled with love.
